Detroit Lions On Field Alternate Authentic Speed 2024
Detroit introduced its alternate helmet ahead of the 2023 season as the centerpiece of the franchise's 90th anniversary celebration, debuting a matte blue shell that the Lions had never worn before in their history. The design brought back a leaping lion logo from the 1960s that the team had used in other contexts but never on a helmet, placing it on a shell finish the creative team chose specifically for its balance between something entirely new and something rooted in the franchise's past. For 2024, the alternate received an update, swapping in a black leaping lion trimmed in silver on the same matte blue shell, paired with a black facemask and a black and silver center stripe, completing a look that pairs with Detroit's all-black alternate uniforms and marks the first time the franchise has worn black since retiring that colorway after the Matt Millen era.
