Salt Lake City has always taken its Indigenous heritage seriously, and the Proud alternate is where that commitment becomes a helmet. The white shell carries a version of the interlocking UU mark reimagined with Native American geometric patterning embedded throughout the letterforms, triangular motifs and vertical line detail transforming the familiar mark into something that honors the Ute people whose name the university bears. The red crown stripe with its own geometric patterning continues the design language across the top of the shell, and the red face mask ties the cultural graphic work back to the program's primary color without overwhelming the intentionality of the design.
