The darkest version of the Utes identity and one of the more compelling alternate colorways in the current college football mini lineup. The Riddell Mini Speed Black brings Utah football to the shelf in an all-black shell with the block U decal in crimson and white that reframes the program identity entirely, the crimson detail cutting through the dark finish with exactly the kind of high contrast visual drama that makes alternate shell colorways worth adding to a collection that already has the primary red. Where the crimson shell declares the program, the black shell redefines it.

Black shell variants earn their place by doing something the primary colorway cannot and the Utah entry makes that argument as convincingly as any program in the Big 12. The block U in crimson against black has a different energy than it does against the standard crimson shell, sharper and more aggressive, the contrast working in a direction that the primary colorway never goes and giving the overall display a range and visual tension that a single helmet collection cannot achieve. For Utes collectors who already have the crimson and white minis the black is the piece that completes the trifecta.

Utah has developed one of the more versatile alternate uniform programs in the Power Four and the black shell reflects the full range of what the Utes identity can do when it steps away from the traditional crimson. For collectors building across programs or anyone who appreciates a well executed alternate colorway, the Utah black mini is one of the stronger entries in the college football mini lineup at any conference level
