Los Angeles Rams Speed Mini 1981 - 1999
The Los Angeles Rams were the first team in NFL history to wear a logo on their helmet, when halfback Fred Gehrke hand-painted ram horns onto the team's leather headgear in 1948, and the design that emerged from that tradition became one of the most iconic in the sport. The 1981 version marked the last major refinement of the classic look, when the facemask switched from gray to blue to complete the royal blue and gold color scheme from crown to chin. The resulting helmet, a royal blue shell with gold ram horns and a matching blue facemask, carried the franchise through their final years in Los Angeles, the move to St. Louis in 1995, and all the way through the 1999 season before the Greatest Show on Turf era brought a navy blue rebrand.
