Denver Broncos Speed Mini 1966

Before the franchise's iconic D logo ever existed, Denver wore one of the most charmingly imperfect designs in NFL history, a galloping white bronco stenciled across an orange shell. The look debuted in 1962 under head coach Jack Faulkner, originally with a blue horse that proved nearly invisible on black-and-white television broadcasts of the era, prompting the quick switch to white for better contrast. By 1966 the design had been refined one final time, picking up a royal blue center stripe with white flanking stripes and a star added to the horse's eye, before the franchise scrapped the look entirely the following year in favor of a plain blue shell and, eventually, the snorting D logo that would define the next three decades.
